Implementation of Electricity Demand Forecasting System

Background

• Accurate forecasting of electricity demand is an important factor for stable supply of electricity and economical grid operation.
• It is necessary to forecast electricity demand for each time zone with high accuracy and efficiency in order to formulate a power generation plan due to the expansion of the penetration of renewable energy.
• We developed a system that can predict demand at high accuracy with Japan Weather Association.

Features

• A multiple regression model with temperature, humidity, discomfort index, solar radiation, and day of the week demand data as explanatory variables is adopted. This system can forecast electricity demand even in cases where it is difficult to forecast.
• This system can accurately forecast the electricity demand every minute.

Use

• It is possible to ensure appropriate generator adjustment capacity based on highly accurate power demand forecasts.
