Smart Meter Installation Schedule

Chubu Electric Power Grid has installed approximately 12,500 smart meters in sections of the company’s service area since October 2014. Since July 2015, Chubu Electric Power Grid has been successively installing smart meters in conjunction with periodic replacement (see note) of older electric meters throughout our entire service area and we plan to complete smart meter installation for all customers (approx. 10 million units) by March 2023.

(Note) Japan’s Measurement Act prescribes the authorized certification period for electric meters, so before that period expires, the meter is replaced with a new one that has successfully passed the certification standard.
