Stable Electric Power Supply Initiatives
Transmission Network Initiatives
Construction and Improvement of the Safest Power Network
Electricity is delivered to customers via our power network facilities, which include power transmission lines and substations. So that we may provide a stable supply of electricity across this network, transmission and distribution network are built and other facilities are systematically constructed to appropriately handle increases in demand.
In addition, we ensure that our facilities are reliable with planned renovations that also take into account facility aging. In implementing these construction and renovation projects, we marshal the entire Chubu Electric Power Group’s technical capabilities.
To appropriately handle the increased volume of work as facilities age and require repairs and upgrading, we have worked to standardize the level of construction carried out annually. To address particularly difficult issues such as implementing work during summertime when demand for electricity is greater, we have sought to avoid seasons when lightning strikes are frequent and take advantage of early morning times when electricity demand is low so that we may implement the work while also ensuring supply reliability.
Flawless Operation and Maintenance
In order to ensure electricity is appropriately delivered to handle fluctuations in demand, the Central Load Dispatching Center and Power Supply Control Center adjust the amount of electricity generated 24 hours a day. Electricity flow is monitored and controlled so that we may stably deliver high-quality electricity with little voltage or frequency variation.
In addition, we regularly patrol and service power lines and substations so that any abnormalities are detected early. We have introduced technical certification systems for employees and quality management systems in addition to improving inspection methods applied in regular servicing of facilities and sought to adopt the latest diagnostic technologies. These and other efforts are made as we strive to make sure that our technical capabilities are maintained and passed on over generations of employees.
Quickly Responding to Failures
Power lines are ordinarily a reticulated configuration of two or more lines with multiple transformers installed at substations. We take pains so that, even if a failure, disaster or other event renders some network facilities unusable, other sound facilities may be quickly arranged to deliver electricity.
In addition, we are continually conducting hands-on training exercises daily to maintain our rapid response capability in the event of a failure.
